Airbag use outside of the vehicle

Airbags and seat belts both go hand in hand in protecting an individual when in an accident or collision. However, what happens when you don’t have a seat belt or there is nothing to put an airbag into on your vehicle? How can an individual protect themselves in those scenarios? Believe it or not, vehicles are not the only ones who use airbags for safety.
Motorcyclists have the option of using airbags inside their attire. Yes, in their jackets! The airbags add very little bulk to the drivers attire yet add more safety. This technology requires an algorithm that can sense when an accident is about to occur. When this happens, the airbag deploys around the driver’s neck, shoulders and back, adding a layer of protection during impact. Similarly, to this, skiers have adapted this technology into their own suits. World Cup racers use these airbags to protect them in case of a fall. However, the difference between the two is the secret in the algorithm. In a motorcycle accident, a crash may be obvious. When it detects that the individual is in the air rather than sitting – it deploys. However, skiers can be in the air for a period of time and it would be a jump rather than a crash. So, the algorithm has to be able to differentiate between the two.
Airbags are being implemented in various environments including auto and sports to ensure the safety of those using them. I wonder what is next? Regardless of where it is used, once a SRS Airbag Module deployed it needs to be reset. Airbags are meant to be a one and done product and require replacement afterword. Safety Restore can restore your airbag module to its factory settings with a 24 hours turnaround.
